Welcomes and acknowledges the fact that, while it remains unclear whether any compensation has been foreseen, other WTO members that export beef to the EU agreed to support this agreement by accepting that the vast majority of the quota would be allocated to the US; expects the EU not to compensate these countries during the ongoing negotiations of trade agreements whether in the form of tariff and/or quotas preferences;

Calls on the Commission to prepare with the upmost attention the implementation, as from 28 January 2022, of the ban on imports of meat from animals treated with antimicrobial medicinal products used for the purpose of promoting growth or increase yield, as foreseen by Article 107 of Regulation 2019/6 on veterinary medicinal products, in order to avoid any new conflict in the WTO and potential new tariff rate quota to settle such conflicts;

Stresses the importance of finding negotiated solutions, such as this agreement, to dilute trade tensions between the EU and the US; stresses the importance that each partner shows its willingness to diffuse tensions and to reach balanced deals; considers that the formal notification by the United States of its withdrawal of the Paris agreement on November 4 2019 do not contribute to an appeasement of relations;

Calls on the US to revoke the additional tariffs on steel and aluminium, and olives, and to withdraw its threat to impose additional tariffs on cars and car parts; underlines that the full revocation of the threat to impose additional tariffs on cars and car parts at the date imposed by the US President for a final decision, i.e. mid November, is the condition for the European Parliament to agree on proceeding with the ratification;
