Urges, furthermore, that new techniques for effectively tracing fisheries products should be adopted as soon as possible, and highlights in particular the techniques, for example those using DNA analysis, described in the Commission report ‘Deterring Illegal Activities in the Fisheries Sector – Genetics, Genomics, Chemistry and Forensics to Fight IUU Fishing and in Support of Fish Product Traceability’ as a possible tool for combating IUU fishing;
