Whereas increased social inequalities leadcontribute significantly to increased child poverty, children being the age group at greatest risk of poverty in 19 Member States of the EU, social inequalities reproduce disadvantage across generations and data indicate that the gap between rich and poor has increased throughout the EU, including in countries with higher GDP;
