  • Roving ambassador, personal representative of the President of the Republic 1977-1979.
  • Held various important posts (1955-1958) in the private office of M. Pflimlin (Minister of Finance and then Prime Minister) and at the Ministry of Finance 1956-1963. Several times director of M. Giscard d'Estaing's private office (State Secretary for Finance, 1959; Minister of Finance 1962 and 1963).
  • Chairman of the EP Committee on Development and Cooperation.
  • Author of approximately fifteen literary, historical and political works.
