    As an economist is the Italian Prime Minister's economic adviser. Also ordinary professor of Labour Economics at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata.

    From 1985 to 1989 was vice-chairman of the Labour and Social Affairs Committee of the OECD (Paris). From 1983 to 1987 was responsible, at the Ministry of Labour for all the strategies for employment and income policy. In 1989 founded the EALE (European Association of Labour Economists), of which he is the first chairman.
