W przegłosowanym sprawozdaniu dotyczącym ustanowienia Europejskiego Instrumentu na rzecz Pokoju wskazano, że główne decyzje w sprawie wykorzystania środków z tegoż instrumentu podejmowane będą na szczeblu Rady, jakkolwiek nie wiadomo, czy jednomyślnie czy też większością kwalifikowaną. Ponadto rola państw członkowskich w kierowaniu codziennymi działaniami zostanie ograniczona, gdyż prowadzić je będzie Europejska Służba Działań Zewnętrznych. Dlatego w głosowaniu nad tym sprawozdaniem postanowiłem wstrzymać się od głosu.

W przegłosowanym sprawozdaniu podkreśla się potrzebę zwalczania wszelkich form korupcji i wzywa się państwa członkowskie do ściślejszej współpracy w obszarze wymiany informacji. Sprawozdanie zawiera wiele innych zapisów, które należy poprzeć. Jednocześnie jednak odwołuje się do ustanowienia Prokuratury Europejskiej, co jest kontrowersyjne z punktu widzenia mojego kraju. Dlatego też zagłosowałem przeciwko temu sprawozdaniu.

Od dawna apeluję do decydentów UE, by włączyli się w działania mające na celu zwalczanie terroryzmu. Zaniechania w tym zakresie skutkują tak tragicznymi wydarzeniami jak wczorajszy zamach w Strasburgu. Miał on miejsce w przeddzień głosowania nad sprawozdaniem Komisji Specjalnej ds. Terroryzmu.Jednakże część zapisów w nim zawartych budzi poważne zastrzeżenia co do prawdziwych intencji jego autorów. Na przykład w ustępie 36 Parlament domaga się „przejrzystej kontroli i akredytowania jedynie tych programów edukacji teologicznej, które są w pełni zgodne z wartościami demokracji, praworządności, praw człowieka, neutralnością i demokratycznym laicyzmem państw europejskich”. Nie bardzo wiadomo, jak można pogodzić teologię z laicyzmem.W ustępie 38 z kolei Parlament wzywa państwa członkowskie do zamykania tych miejsc kultu religijnego, które „nie przestrzegają zasad demokracji i praworządności oraz praw człowieka”. Mogłoby to doprowadzić do poważnych nadużyć w zakresie wolności religijnych. Dlatego głosowałem przeciwko temu sprawozdaniu.

W przyjętym sprawozdaniu rocznym w sprawie realizacji wspólnej polityki zagranicznej i bezpieczeństwa w art. 28 Parlament popiera propozycję przedstawioną przez przewodniczącego Komisji Europejskiej w orędziu o stanie Unii, aby przyjąć system głosowania większością kwalifikowaną w określonych obszarach WPZiB, w których traktaty aktualnie wymagają jednomyślności. Taka zmiana marginalizowałaby część krajów Unii Europejskiej, pozbawiając je wpływu na tę politykę, i jest to kolejny krok w kierunku utworzenia europejskiego superpaństwa. Nie ma na to przyzwolenia społecznego w Unii Europejskiej. Dlatego głosowałem przeciwko temu sprawozdaniu.

Zarówno moja grupa, jak i ja osobiście, głosowaliśmy za tym sprawozdaniem, mając na względzie przede wszystkim bezpieczeństwo obywateli, a kwestia wymiany danych jest kluczowa.Opowiadamy się za jak najszybszym rozpoczęciem negocjacji w celu zawarcia tej umowy międzynarodowej, ponieważ stworzy ona także możliwość zwiększenia bezpieczeństwa państw Unii Europejskiej w zakresie ochrony danych osobowych. Zgadzamy się z zapisem w punkcie dwudziestym, że w umowie należy uwzględnić mechanizm monitorowania i że powinna ona podlegać okresowym ocenom.

The President, Vice-Presidents and Quaestors shall be elected by secret ballot, in accordance with Rule 182. Nominations shall be with consent. They may only be made by a political group or by at least 40 Members. However, if the number of nominations does not exceed the number of seats to be filled, the candidates may be elected by acclamation. Members shall be permitted to serve a maximum of two terms in the office of President pursuant to Rule 19(1), regardless of whether they are served consecutively or not.
